The W Challenge was launched in 2018 on Women’s Equality Day. It is a collaboration led by the San Francisco City Administrator Carmen Chu, San Francisco Department on the Status of Women and the League of Women Voters San Francisco with a simple goal of raising women’s voices and expanding women’s representation. Each year we design a new challenge to encourage women to act.
- 2018 W Challenge: Get one more woman to register to vote
- 2019 W Challenge: Read a book from the women’s book list to stay inspired
- 2020 W Challenge: Join the “100 Years, 100 Women” social media campaign
Women’s Equality Day was first established in 1973 to commemorate the 1920 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote.
