Mia Mingus
Mia Mingus is a writer, educator and community organizer for disability justice and transformative justice. She is a queer, physically disabled, Korean transracial and transnational adoptee raised in the Caribbean. She has been involved in transformative justice work for over 15 years and is a founding core-member of the Bay Area Transformative Justice Collective (BATJC), working to build and support transformative justice responses to cases of sexual abuse. She works for community, interdependence, and home for all of us, not just some of us, and she longs for a world where disabled children can live free of violence, with dignity and love. As her work for liberation evolves and deepens, her roots remain firmly planted in ending sexual violence. Mingus’ approach to disability justice focuses on dismantling privilege; “We don’t want to simply join the ranks of the privileged; we want to dismantle those ranks and the systems that maintain them.”
