100 Years, 100 Women
Learn from the Past, Shape the Future
2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which extended the right to vote to women in United States. Joint by our partners and supporters, the W Challenge collaborative ran a 10-week social media campaign, from Women’s Equality Day to Election Day, to inspire more women to vote!
As we commemorate the occasion, we also recognize that equal voting rights were not granted to all American women for another 55 years, and that the ongoing fight against voter suppression continues today. Therefore, we urge everyone who can, to vote at every election to honor those who fought for this right and to acknowledge those who still struggle for it. (See the San Francisco Board of Supervisor’s resolution to commemorate the 100th anniversary here.)
Highlighted below are 100 women leaders (10 per each decade from 1920 to 2020) we featured on social media in the 2020 W Challenge. Please continue to uplift their stories by posting, sharing and tagging #WChallenge.
