100 Years, 100 Women
Learn from the Past, Shape the Future
Welcome to the 2020 W Challenge to celebrate Women’s Suffrage and inspire women to use their voices!
This year join us in a 10-week social media campaign to recognize 100 women leaders from the past 100 years to mark the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which extended the right to vote to women in United States. (See the San Francisco Board of Supervisor’s resolution to commemorate the 100th anniversary here.)
As we commemorate the occasion, we also recognize that equal voting rights were not granted to all American women for another 55 years, and that the ongoing fight against voter suppression continues today. Therefore, we urge everyone who can, to vote this year and every election to honor those who fought for this right and to acknowledge those who still struggle for it.
Join us for the W Challenge to learn from the past and shape the future! Highlight these 100 women leaders from the past 100 years on your social media to uplift their stories and inspire the other women to take action. Here’s how:
Check out the list below of 10 women leaders selected for each decade from 1920 to 2020, click to find a description of their work and contribution.
Choose 2-3 women leaders each week for the corresponding decade, download their pictures, and feature them on your preferred outreach channel, such as social media platforms, newsletters, and/or website.
Post, share and tag #WChallenge, and refer back to the WChallenge.org if your followers need more info.
Keep it up for the 10 weeks between Women’s Equality Day (August 26) and Election Day (November 3) to motivate more women to vote in honor of these leaders who helped to get us to where we are today!
